NASA Stepping Stars Biomimicry Lesson Plans

Bring nature-inspired STEM learning into your classroom or informal education setting with a set of 31 ready-to-use biomimicry lesson plans, developed through Stepping Stars, a grant funded by NASA. Stepping Stars: A Multi-State Middle & High School Space Grant STEM Engagement Project was a collaboration between the Ohio, New York, and Nebraska Space Grants to utilize bio-inspired design in nature to inspire and bolster students’ interest in STEM.

These lessons help students explore how nature inspires innovative engineering solutions, connecting biology, design, and real-world problem solving—just like NASA scientists and engineers.

What You’ll Get

  • 31 lessons for the classroom or informal education setting
  • Focus on biomimicry and engineering design
